Delaney fought with grace, humor and so much heart for over 5 years. She passed away on 3/21/16 at the young age of 13.

There is so much I could say about Delaney, but one thing is she loved turtles.

So I did some research on the meaning of turtles and here is some of what I found…

The turtle is said to bring the totem gifts of longevity, blessings, and journeys.

The turtle (as a spirit animal) carries the energies of patience and protection.

The turtle brings the magic of serendipity and intuition.

The sea turtle takes vast journeys in the sea, allowing the tide to take her where they wish, trusting that all will be okay and that she will arrive when and where opportunity will serve her. A beautiful lesson in enjoying the journey of life, trusting in the flow, and partaking in the blessings that are bestowed upon her along the way. The magic of serendipity…experiencing happy accidents.

Rather fitting for our girl, isn't it?

The moment Delaney came dancing into my life, the world began to spin a bit slower. When we were together it felt as if the clock would stop ticking, just for us. Like our time together was meant to be infinite…and maybe I was a little crazy to believe that to be true. We had so many epic adventures and made so many memories traveling, sitting quietly painting for hours, making our way onto a national billboard, and choreographing dance videos in my living room. I know many of you feel just as grateful as I do that they got to chance “know” Delaney, in whatever capacity that was. She was contagious. She was the bug you wanted to catch. Now I can only speak of her in the time I knew her but I felt a connection with her, like we spoke the same language. She was a gentle hero and an old soul. She was intuitive. She was genuinely compassionate and kind. She did nothing in a hurry and she soaked up the world around her like a sponge. She didn’t want to miss a second.

But I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know.

Delaney taught me that time is really not infinite like I wanted to believe… but a precious gift. She taught me to slow down and enjoy the journey and the blessings along the way.

Delaney was a graceful, tenacious turtle.

My favorite thing about Delaney, only slightly more than her giggle, was her presence itself. It was electrifying.

Delaney was and always will be a soul lantern. Her soul shine, her light would shine so bright, you couldn't help but feel it buzzing through your own veins. It was the same light that would dim from time to time but always found a way to brighten back up and shine for others. It takes strength to be a soul lantern. It takes patience and kindness. It is a light that shines within that leads the way for others. We all have this light within us, each and every one of us. We all have the ability to be a soul lantern. Delaney just had to show us the way.

 And for you Del…
