Stella Anne Beard, age 3, joined her angel friends on March 23, 2017 after a courageous three month fight with DIPG, a rare pediatric brain cancer. She gracefully left this earth while surrounded by her loving family and friends. Although she was taken too soon, she left a lasting impression on many. Her time may have been short, but the quality of life she led was immeasurable. Stella was a free-spirited lover of life, learning, and Jesus. She used to say that people who were full of kindness and caring had “pink hearts”. She had the pinkest of hearts and would naturally bring a smile to everyone she met. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, and friend to many
Although her diagnosis offered no hope of survival, she battled with grace and courage. She never once complained or shed a tear even after countless tests, procedures, and treatments. Her family found comfort and peace in her stoic and graceful demeanor. Her battle inspired those that knew her before, and the many others that joined the StellaStrong community to help her fight.
While able, she continued to live life as normally as possible, which often meant playing with her brothers Owen and Elliott. Some of her greatest joys in life included singing, dancing, coloring, and learning. She could usually be found playing at home, at the park, or swimming on sunny days. Preschool was often the highlight of her week and she dreamed of being old enough to ride the bus to the "big kid" school. Nail polish and "lip" were some of her most treasured belongings and spa days were truly special events. Although she frequently dressed like a princess, her personality was grounded and she was very tender hearted. She cared deeply for those around her whether it was a family member, friend, or stranger.
If you would like to honor Stella, the family encourages you to spend extra time with your family doing some of her favorite activities, or donating your time helping the youth in our communities.
